Force feeding .........how long?

after the first force feed i'd wait a week and see if the snake will take a meal without force. as long a there has been no regurge and the snake is defecating normally 5-7 days is fine. the main thing is just to make sure that the snake is capable of normal digestion before feeding again. good luck...:) ---jim

After 1 force feeding I offer food at 5 days if refused I offer again in 5 days if refused again I force feed. So every 10 days but I always make sure they have had the opportunity to feed on their own. Force feeding is so stressfull that I would not care to do it more often then that. I'm sure that there are other schedules that work equally well:)

Alicia's schedule sounds good to me. I had to resort to force feeding several hatchlings this year. Most didn't make it but the last one, after being force fed 4 times, was back in good condition and readily ate his lizard scented pinky this morning, his third in 12 days. His next offering will be a brained pinky.

I am not actually force feeding as it is much to small for that. This is a blizzard bought at a show as a non feeder.I tried everything but it would not eat. I am "assist" feeding mouse tails right now as it is extremely small,I hope to be feeding it pinky mice on or before Thanksgiving.I have fed it for the second time tonight.I offered it a small f/t pinky two days ago with no luck.I am "assist" feeding every 8-10 days offering f/t pinks every 5-7 days.I will continue this feeding schedule until it expires or eats on it's own.I think that I could probably feed it a little more often as there is nothing left in 7 days but I don't want to push it too hard.It had deficated for me before I ever started feeding and once between so it is capable of passing stool.Wish me luck!

It sounds like your doing everything you can for the little one. On your next feeding try just the pinkie head. Sometimes when they are really small the whole pinkie can be a bit much:) I do wish you luck and hope he/she eats soon.

My little blizzard has now eaten it's second pinky mouse of it's own accord after being assist fed mouse tails!!!!!!!!:D
