Anyone know of a free music web site were I could down load music to an MP3 for free ? WITHOUT GEETING IN TROUBLE BY THE LAW ? Thanks.

Well i think downloading music is illegal in general, so i don't think you can find one that is REALLY legal.. However i know MANY people use P2P networks(including myself..) and get away with it..

I can't stand limewire, it messes my computer up. I hear frostwire is pretty good though. I usually just steal music from my younger brother and my friends, I mean that not really going to help you out but it works for me lol!

I used to fix computers for a living and probably 25% of the computers I fixed had problems related to limewire or similar software. I fixed one computer 3 times because this kid couldn't get it through his head that limewire and porn sites were bad for his computer.

Limewire may be better now because the last time I fixed a computer was over a year ago (it was limewire related lol).

I think a lot of the problems with Limewire is people forgetting to shut it down in the toolbar. I used to do that a lot! I'd x out of the program itself but not realize it was still running in my toolbar.

I Chose the option to not have it running on my toolbar. I think you choose that when you download it or you can go to your options and choose it then. I like it that way.

That's what I have it set up for now. Back then though I had no clue it was just sitting and running for days down there!

I've had a ton of issues with Limewire in the past. It puts a crap load of spyware on your pc when you download it. JMHO...I don't trust it.

I've used BearShare in the past with none of the LW issues.

Like the novice I am, I had to learn about torrents, before I felt comfortable using them. I know many people who are pro's at using this method :

I have had to fix my secretary's computer 3 times, in the past year, due to her downloading for herself and my clients using Limewire. (I have never put it on a computer in my possession, because I have been suspect of it....and what I have observed it do to others' computers.) 'WebRoot SpySweeper' and 'Lavasoft Ad-Aware' are what I use to attempt to keep my pesky secretary's computer "clean". If they don't block it's entry, a sweep of both will root it out. (Norton seems to let stuff through....So I am trying out Kaspersky on my office desktop and home laptop HP's. So far Kaspersky blocks entry of more things than I have ever seen.)
Sorry for rambling...but the point was perhaps there is a safe way to use Limewire.

Most of my music collection is classical music, old music, or obscure music....usually only iTunes has it anyway. So I have purchased it honestly, and know I have the best quality and no sneaky extras.

There is also 'filesharing' (with or without Limeware) but it makes me too nervous to open my computer up to be looked at and allow music to be downloaded from it, even by a well-intentioned friend.
