Okay soooo, I just got my first corn snake yesterday morning (albino). Ever since I have brought her home, she has just sat in her hide, minus when I fed her a pinky (I had to leave the room for her to eat it). I'm pretty sure she's too frightened to even stick her head out of her little cave. I haven't even seen her take a drink from her bowl once, period. Could she dehydrate or something? I don't even know if she knows where the water bowl is (even though I put it right next to her little cave) because she hasn't really come out to look around. What should I do about this? She's so scared :(
 
i had the same problem ... but its not a problem at all i just overlooked that they were nocturnal when i was reading about them she isnt scared just sleeping :p
 
If you leave her water in the same place, she will find it. You will rarely see her drink unless you watch her at night. As Jevard stated, corn snakes are mostly nocturnal.
 
I've had my baby, Vosim, for about 1.5 months, and I have yet to see him drink. I know he knows where it is because as I put him back in his home after a feeding, he will occasionally go through it to go hide.

I really wouldn't worry about it. As for feeding, I'm sure every snake is different.. sometimes I have to pick up Vosim and move him so that his head is near the pinkie, and suddenly, he gets all excited and eats.

Basically, they need a little time to get used to a new home.
 
Sounds like perfectly normal behaviour to me too :) It could take a week or two before she feels confident enough to come out and explore her new surroundings, or she may start exploring once she has digested, don't forget corn snakes tend to hide for a couple of days after eating, whilst they digest their food :)

You should try not to disturb her too much during the first 48 to 72 hours after a feed, so she can digest in peace, if she feels threatened or stressed by you disturbing her, she could regurgitate her meal and you really want to avoid that.
 
im up till 2 in the morning and i have NEVER EVER seen mine out... at all.mine is always hiding somewhere under her bedding.
 
It's normal for them to hide especially if you just got them. new home, new smells, it's terrifying for a snake.

To them you're a big hairy monster looking for lunch. Give her a week or so to acclimate and she'll be feeling better.

As for snakes drinking, mines drank while I held her near the bowl. It's so cool seeing how they do it.
 
You've only had her for one day.. did you realise that you can leave her alone for a week if that's how much time she needs to get used to her new home? Don't worry if that means missing one feed. She just needs a little bit of time :)

And she will drink, even if you don't see her do it.
 
That sounds perfectly normal to me :)

I've had mine for about 10 days and apart from a very early bit of wandering around she didh, I've barely seen her out since.

I fed her yesterday and she came out her cave so slowly, and gave the pinkie a good sniff before she took it.

Just try not to disturb her, make sure there's plenty of hides and she'll gain confidence in the end :)

Snakes aren't the kind of pet that will be out playing all the time and crave attention. They're very solitary animals but given time yours should be out and about having an explore soon
 
hi i bought a king snake that snake was very nervous @ times but if you judst got it be paient an leave alone about 5to7 days as this could stress your snake out im anewbie by the way but my corn was the same but after handling it afew times being calm your self is important feeeding wise when was she feed b4 you mybe by the ohter ppl you got it from my corn is great after 13 days he needs time get to grips with all the moveing
