Frogs and Insects

Canadain Eh?

Hi yall,
I was just wondering if I can feed my snake frogs, grasshoppers and other insects? I have tons of these animals in my yard and I was wondering if it would be safe to feed him or would he eat them?  I don't care if I have to freze them to kill them. My snake is five months old and the frogs are really small.

I know for a fact that your corn won't eat any insect. It MIGHT eat the frogs though I'm not too sure how safe that would be. My suggestion would be to stick to mice.

I would not feed any animals you find in your yard. Frogs would probably carry a heavy parasite load, which could be passed on to the snake. (And freezing does not guarantee that everything is killed)

Stick with rodents.

Agreed.

Anything you find wild like frogs, lizards or rodents will most certainly give your snake some sort of parasite, if not more than one.

i dont have any in-laws... where can i find them... how much do they cost.. is there an alternative relative that could be used... god this can be so worrying when you dont have everything you need..!!!

I was wondering the same. My responses from my felow korn keepers were to stick to mice. Anoles and frogs could have parasites. Also, if the snake likes them, he may never switch to mice again and that could get expensive. Try hamsters and gerbils!
