We're gonna build a rack!!!!
After much debating I went ahead and set up a 31 qt. sterilite with a UTH stuck to a tile under it. I know that's big for a baby, but I realized I wasn't sure what age/size snakes I might get at the expo and better too big than too small. Besides that, hubby got me 13" square tiles . . . a little much for a 15 qt. I'm so glad I only set up 1 to see if I like it - cause I don't. I'm having a heck of a time getting the temps stable where they ought to be, in fact I need to go mess with it again, I was planning to get my male ghost today and it's 90 degrees in there. Yesterday it was 75 on the warm side and I lowered it a tiny bit and now it's 90 . . . LOL Anyway, the entire thing looks really make-shift and takes up a lot of room, and w/3 tubs that I can't stack things are going to get out of hand fast. So I showed my hubby the pics of the racks and he's going to build me one!!! I am SOOOOOO excited! I'll do some more research later, however I am wondering where to get the flexwatt? BTW I LOVE the instructions on building a rheostat - too cool! At first I thought that with only 3 snakes to occupy it a rack was a little too much, but after pricing UTH's I'm thinking that for inexpensive heating and convenient out of the way housing this is just going to be best. Besides, I'd need it if I get my breeding operation off the ground in a few years. The only down side will be the temptation to buy more snakes to fill the empty slots in the rack!!! Uh-oh! :eek1:
