Frozen Mouse order Late ??

I ordered from Layne and they have 2 day shipping on their mice which I'm sure is fine since they are packed so well. This morning I got notification that the 2 day shipping has been delayed and it will be 3 days. 3 entire days.

I'm going to call Layne, but do you think they will be ok? It's been so hot. They are coming from CA to OH. They have been sitting at UPS from what I can tell on tracking. Layne is in CA so they never even left CA.

I would definitely call them. Is that three additional days on top of the already 2? Or three days total? If packed right, they might be ok. But its hard to know for sure. Wouldnt hurt to call Layne to let them know.

I agree; give them a call. I'm wondering if this is a UPS snafu and not Layne's fault. But, still, they should be able to do something. I just got an order from them yesterday and it was completely frozen and still had a good deal of dry ice left, so I'm hoping yours will be okay.

May I ask why, if you live in OH, you aren't ordering mice from American Rodent? Brian is right there in your home state. You could presumably pick them up yourself and save on shipping.

Terri

I don't know about Layne Labs shipping but I have had orders from Rodent Pro and Big Cheese take about 5 days and the mice were fine. They generally pack those so well and I live in AZ.

That seems crazy. I've only ordered from The Mouse Factory (RIP) and it's always overnight. The one time I had a one day delay they replaced it.

I emailed Layne. I am sure it wasn't their fault. UPS received it the day Layne was supposed to ship. It's UPS.

I figured they would be ok b/c they are packed in dry ice.

Terri - I'll have to look into American Rodent. I had heard good things about Layne and they allow me to order in smaller quantities than a couple other places I looked. I don't have room for so many mice in my freezer right now. Thanks for the tip!

Edit: Just checked American Rodent - Indy is about 3 hours away and I see they don't sell in the small quantities Layne does.

So can I assume you are buying less than 50, right? Because at the 50 ct break the price difference delivered is significantly cheaper through American Rodent. (Layne 50ct shipped to Ft Wayne $63 vs American Rodent 50 ct. to the same zip $27(same small sized mice). American Rodent doesn't charge shipping in your area; there is a flat $10 dry ice fee though. Fifty frozen small mice equal 1 flat gallon ziplock bag. Just a thought...

Terri

I wish there was someone who didn't charge shipping in my area! Shipping is the kicker, price wise.

Ya, I had to order 10 sm fuzzy, 10 lg fuzzy for a younger boy I have. After this I can probably order more. I was able to order 1 bag of 50. Everything else was less.
