I promised his breeder (Joanna/jodu) an update after he shed. So here it is. He's about half the size of his girlfriend, which is normal for garters. He's about 16g. His girlfriend can be a little musky, but this guy is VERY musky. Last night he was whipping musk into my face, hair, shirt, and who knows where else. I washed my hands about fifty times and I could still smell it. I'll spare you a description of what it smells like to me-- let's just say that it's unpleasant, and leave it at that. I don't mind kingsnake musk, I can deal with corn musk, I actually LIKE Bairdi musk, but the b-n garter musk is foul stuff. But he's a handsome lad.

Got to see some wild eastern garter porn the other day (while doing some outside work). The female was easily 2 to 3 times the males size, but boy was he ever aggressive. :rofl:

You wouldn't understand Jenn. You're "with child" (in the late stages). We single guys on the make need every advantage we can get. It's not uncommon for us to "musk up" (haven't you seen Anchorman?).

Most snakes, and MANY other species of animals have glands in their posterior regions that produce a foul-smelling fluid that is a deterrent to would-be predators. Garters are sort of infamous for their use of these glands. Think skunk.

I think the black necks have the worst musk smell of any snake! Seems like he takes after his father, beautiful but smelly!
