General CS questions... and hello again!

Hey guys. Couple of questions for you. I haven't frequented this forum in a long time as I am constantly on my bass fishing forum at work and when I'm home attending to my pregnant wife. Some of you may remember me, I signed up in 06' and was on here all the time back then. Now I'm off and on when I get the chance.

I have a Sept 06' Amel at home and I was just curious on avg what his weight and length should be by this age. I see many people posting 06's now that are huge and very attractive and beautiful. I've yet to sex my snake and it is quite colorful and very cool but just haven't got around to finding out yet. It is a little on the smaller side I guess you could say. I'll have pics up later. I feed him regularly once a week and he is still on small mice, haven't moved up to medium or large yet and medium will be a while.

It has never regurged or had digestive issues. But it just seems smaller compared to you guys. I know some power feed and I was contemplating it, but don't want a humungous snake. I just want it to be happy so I provide sufficient food and water and exceptional care and environment factors.

I'll take a pic of the cage as well (20 gallon). I am contemplating buying a new youngster or hatchling soon at the next reptile show. After I sex Raydin of course. I still have fuutre plans to breed so I want as much variety as I can get. Here are the choices I have for my next snake:

-Miami Phase
-Snow
-Reverse Oke

What do you guys think? I go for more natural colors I guess. What would be my best match? If you wanna wait for the pics that's fine. Most of you old timers should remember Raydin though.

My only other question is where can I find one of those weight scales that calculates by grams? I wanna buy one so I can post results for you guys to let me know whether I am on track with Raydin.

I miss you all, sorry I'm never on. No offense to you guys, this place remains an awesome place and I still enjoy the pics.

Much love to Roy, Kathy, Rich and any others who may or may not remember me. Hope you are all doing well.

Well first off, welcome back :)
Second, wrong forum this should probally be under misc. discussions or corn snake husbandry.

My corn is a sept 06 and she is 224g (she's also going through a hunger strike and hasn't gained any weight since january) but it's hard to say that there would be an "average" size or length. Every snake grows differently, and it also greatly depends on how the snake was fed before coming to you as well. As I tell everyone, when I got Nagini last may at 8months old she was only 24g, I was dissapointed once I found out that she should have been a lot bigger, at least in my mind, but with steady feeding she's been just fine.

DO NOT POWERFEED! I feel confident in saying that "we" as a forum do not condone that, just don't do it.

As for finding a gram scale a lot of people find theres at walmart. I got mine off of ebay weighs up to 2000g got it for $19 shipped.

I'm leaving the "which snake next" question alone because I don't really breed.

For deciding your next snake, just think about what's more important to you: the new snake or the potential offspring from breeding them? I personally would go with a Miami phase just to have a snake with melanin. All babies would be normals with this pairing. If you like ROs or snows better, then you will have amelanistic babies! So yeah, just think about those things. Good luck!

Yep...walmart has a decent 5lb. scale for about $30. After you find out the weight everybody here can help you out with the prey size. And pics will help a lot to figure out if he is underweight or not.

No offense to the thread being moved. I've had that happen, but aren't these "general questions"? Why wouldn't this belong under the forum I posted it at? No big. I'm just confused as to why all of a sudden we have become that picky on here. Never had threads moved due to something so minuscule before. Just seemed unnecessary to me... but I'll try and be correct next time I guess...

Anyway pics will be up in the next post tomorrow morning. Later.

Oh, wow. Ok that I can understand. My bad. I was in there looking at pictures and probably just hit new thread there on accident. I had multiple cs windows open. Sorry for the confusion and trouble.

Cureent Pics

Sorry about the quality. My camera was dead. My snake after looking at papers is actually 1 year and 8 months. I've had it since 1 year 7 months, got it as a hatchling.

Anyway... here are 5 pictures. Let me know what you think as far as it's size based off the pics. I'll be picking up a scale when I get paid May 1st. Also I am making an appointment to have Raydin sexed for next week. We have a reptile vet in town I wasn't even aware of. Gonna do it one morning before work.
