Glorious Sunset

This is the reason I live here. It's not always easy living in a small town in the middle of the desert. You gotta make sacrifices. I know I'll never be rich, but I'll always pay my bills, so I'm happy.

And it's all worthwhile because of sunsets like this...

Before the sun dips below the ridgeline of the Sierras, the light can be very dramatic and intense, but it lacks any color. It's perfect for B&W shooting.

But once that sun drops below the ridgeline...that's when the light and the clouds do this magical dance...

There is a reason why they call this area "The Range of Light". It's the same reason I love living here.

Thanks for taking the time to look!!

New decree; the people of Bishop, CA, are the luckiest people in the whole USA lol..Love the photo's (as always), and the scene is just perfect..I love how green things are here in New Hampshire, but I desperately wish we had open expanses like that to absorb on those stressful day's..Great photo's and I hope you had a great night enjoying the sunset :)!

I'll trade you winter sunsets for fall foliage anytime you're ready. You're in New Hamphsire. You got rolling hills covered in maple trees for miles on end. That's a tough scene to beat in mid-late September...

I just can't take the winters out there anymore. Too dang cold for too dang long...

True! I'm not sure there's many settings that top our fall-foliage. It's almost other worldly sometimes to see how colorful the landscape is. But I definitely wouldn't mind trading out these blistery winters (-30 here tonight) for a little California love.

I love this photo though, Chris. From left to right, it almost looks like the African savanna transitioning into Antarctica, with the warm red colored field that stretches to the sharp blue skies and snowy mountains. I love the colors!!!
