An obsolete oldie...
Susan! I just got a golddust male from Soderberg lines that looks just like yours! It's unlike all the others I have gotten from other lines. Like yours it has that sort of weird pastel purply look to it around the saddles!?!? I'm wondering if it might be something a bit different genetics wise.. What do you think? Is yours a Soderberg???

I think it's just the natural variation seen in the saddle bands of all the hypo morphs. Some are hardly noticeable as having any reduced melanin, others show quite a reduction, and when seen next to other colors, our eyes see yet another color...in this case, a purplish hue. My golddusts are from Serpenco stock, but the ultra caramel motley I picked up last year also shows that hue and I have no idea whose line she is from.
