this may be another one of my dumb questions but how can u tell the gender of your snake....ive waited until mine is older to ask this since i know its harder to tell when they are young.

You can sometimes tell by how quickly the tail tapers behind the vent. If the tail tapers slowly into a long gently tapering tail , its probably a male. If the tail tapers quickly leaving a much shorter tail then its likely to be a female. Probably best to get em probed tho as I think you need a lot of experience to be 100% with this method.

could somebody place a picture of a male and a femal in here for an example... =) there arent any vets around here that treat snakes so i dont think ill be able to get it probed.

By the way, Danny

It's actually EASIEST to sex corns when they are hatchlings, either with popping or probing. The Cornsnake Manual, which I hope is on your Christmas list, has great photos of snake's vents to illustrate the difference. All mine are "down" for their winter nap right now, but I'll sneak in a photo or two next time I check on them if no one else has by then.
Merry Christmas
