Grams?

On another note... I also take an "empty" weight. The reason for this is I want to know how much of the the mass I'm getting is ACTUALLY snake, not just poo or what it ate.

Pat to get a really accurate weight you put the snake and the mouse in a tub on the scale and weigh every 2-3 minutes. Then you do the same as he is pooing. You subtract the difference, multiply it times the date and waaalaaa accuate wieght. Just ask me I have a higher edumacation:punch:

It's "customary" to give "empty" weight. So weigh the snake just prior to a feeding.

Using the above logic.

I feed Mondays and Fridays, so if I weigh I weigh on Wednesday. For the most part, I believe that if you are using it for your own personal reference, then as long as you keep it consistant it is okay. I do it every other week, on the same day.

I only understand the first part which is, you feed on monday and friday.
So if you do that, I think it would be best to weigh on friday before you feed.

I think we're making this hobby of owning corns a little too anal.

In defense of poor Pat, he DID say that weighing for your own reference, such as to see how rapidly your snake is growing, being consistent and weighing your snake(s) on the same day, be it weekly, every 2 weeks, monthly, etc is an excellent plan. But if you are getting a weight on your snake for, say, proper dosage of medication, then a completely empty system weight is best, and that is best obtained just prior to the regular feeding. But then, if you want to be TRULY accurate, you also have to consider the snakes shed cycle, as there is a difference in weight before and after a shed...

Personally I weigh the snakes on their first feeding day of each month. I've stopped weighing the adult males that frequently though, every 6 months for the big boys.

Yep, even though technically, grams are a unit of mass, not weight. But since most of us weigh our snakes on THIS planet's surface, it doesn't matter so much. Of course your corn may weigh 1 ounce here on Earth, but it would weigh much less on the moon. It will have a mass of 28.5g on either surface. ;)

Good Lord.

And I thought I needed to get laid. :sidestep:

Wow... good thing I'm not easily traumatized.

Correction: Good thing I've already been traumatized to much for THIS to do anything.

That being said... My neck of the woods is lacking 'herpy' guys... :sidestep:

OH MY !! Where this thread has gone.... delightful :D

<snicker>

I thought it was just me.. but ummmm....

so, we should do a poll... number of snakes to a getting laid ratio - is there a correlation? If I sell a few will I get more? Is my over purchasing a symptom of lack?

Makes ya think huh?

Hitting the classifieds now...

Enjoy!

You too? God...there's more of us than I had thought! Maybe we should all get together and rectify the problem! ;)
Am I too late? :crazy02:

And more importantly, is there gonna be a shirt made up to commemorate the "get-together"? :sidestep:

Not sure about a shirt, but you may want to monitor YouTube for videos...:sidestep:

Hey Roy,
Not to be picky, Really not to be at all!
Grams can be a weight the same as ounces but can also be a mass the same as ounces.
Liquid grams the same as liquid ounces.
