there is no average really. Age is an important factor, shedding at the frequency you've described wouldn't be unusual for a hatchling. However the period inbetween sheds increases with age. And of course there can be big differences between individual snakes.
Another point is that an increased rate of shedding could indicate a problem, irritation caused by mites for example.
You still didn't say when you got her. Just trying to narrow it down. chances are she was 1 to 2 months old when she arrived at the pet store. Unless your girlfriend has records from the breeder, that's probably the closest you'll be able to get.
For the most part, yes. Unlike humans, snake are predominantly born in the summer months, so time of year is usually not a factor. Hatchlings are young corns, yearlings are a corn that were born the previous season. Instead of saying that a snake born in October of last year is about a year old, I would just say it's a late '06.
My 07 blizzard has already shed 3 times since I got her in September, and it looks like she is about to go blue again! She shed 9-20, 10-12 and 11-2. When I fed her today she was hiding in her damp hide like she is going to shed again.
The rest of my 07's have shed twice since September 7th and the two slightly older ones have shed 3 times since middle of August.
Thanks guys for the input. I have tried to get her to search for the records but no luck finding them. Considering the time she was at the store and the time I have had her(late sept). I am gonna guess about 5 months, does that sound about right at 18 inches?
My two corns are both about 1 year old and they shed every month. I dont think they are shedding two much and i dont think yours are either. Different snakes all have different growth rates.
