Gulf of Mexico oil spill disaster...

And "TILT" is a very nonspecific syndrome that has been seen with a lot of other sorts of exposures. Exposure to noxious odors for prolonged periods is about the only common thing among them, so I have suspected it is the brain's response to that.

She says "Those who have a higher risk of getting TILT" Which is what they call the disease. It does sound like killed though.

HAH! I thought it was some sort of freudian slip, as I'm sure the network wouldn't have wanted her to say "KILLED".

Yeah, I guess it's like the pain response. The brain trying to tell you to get the hell away from the source.........

I'd like to see a study but have you ever noticed that most of the things that smell bad are bad for you. The worse they smell the worse they are.

I don't think that applies to medications taken orally. The general rule there, from what I learned in childhood (and according to my mom) is that the worse they taste and smell, the BETTER they are for you....

Of course, it was my mom who warned us kids about eating food that got dirt on it, yet here I am now eating mineral supplements, which are basically dirt...... :shrugs:

That storm is just going to bring more problems..especially if they unplug the well..Just every decision their making is stupid..

Interesting video that I would imagine is making it's rounds in upper levels of government....

Here is a picture of the water in Alabama. My great uncle sent it to me when I requested pictures on Facebook.

I'm guessing they would have to pull those other drilling rigs drilling the relief wells for the duration.

I wonder what the operating parameters are for drilling and working clean up? For example school buses only operate up to about 35 mph winds because then the danger of becomes to high. I wonder what the limits are for a drilling rig? Where is that guy who works on rigs? Maybe he knows a rigs weather limitations. What about the ROV's, I doubt that even a hurricane can cause a stir that deep down into the ocean, but they are operated out of vessels or rigs on the surface so what are those limits? Obviously the clean up vessels depend on size and skill and design so some of them might be able to run before and after a storm. However the booms and things will be even bigger pieces of junk in high seas. Under what sort of conditions can those vacuum boats operate? Even if there isn't a direct hit the potential for threatening weather and high seas in the adjacent areas will be very high as the storm moves through.

But....

I am trying to figure out why things might end up shut down for 2 weeks. I keep reading 2 weeks shut down from everywhere, but I keep thinking about it and I am confused about why it is gonna take that long. What are these BP folks made of sugar are they going to melt in a little bit of rain? And if thats the case then why again are they allowed to be in charge of things on the ocean? While the seas/weather will be bad for 48 or so hours while the storm moves through I can't figure out why they can't work right up until and then get started again right after. Sure things will be choppy but our local folks go out when its choppy and yucky because sometimes things need to get done. I mean we have had to start work again after getting hit by storms days before we even get utilities restored, so whats these folks problem?

Tell me again when can we give BP the boot? I think they are just tired of working so hard "managing things" so they decided this would be a plausible enough excuse for them to have a vacation. At this point really does it make a difference they are toast whether they do a good job with the clean up or not so why do they care. I think they want to use their vacation days before the company goes under.

From what I can find, once winds reach 120mph and are 5 days out they start pulling out of the area. Then once its gone it takes another 5 days to get back in. So I am guessing that is where the 2 weeks is coming from.

I will have to look for the source, but I found this on a European news website. Once/if I find it again, I will post the source. Either way, IF it is true, this is an interesting read.

Goldman Sachs wasn’t alone either in its astute “foreknowledge” of the collapse of BP’s stock value due to the Gulf disaster as BP’s own chief executive, Tony Hayward, sold about one-third of his shares weeks before this catastrophe began unfolding too.

But according to a FSB report the largest seller of BP stock in the weeks before this disaster occurred was the American investment company known as Vanguard who through two of their financial arms (Vanguard Windsor II Investor and Vanguard Windsor Investor) unloaded over 1.5 million shares of BP stock saving their investors hundreds of millions of dollars, chief among them President Obama.

For though little known by the American people, their President Obama holds all of his wealth in just two Vanguard funds, Vanguard 500 Index Fund where he has 3 accounts and the Vanguard FTSE Social Index Fund where he holds another 3 accounts, all six of which the FSB estimates will earn Obama nearly $8.5 million a year and which over 10 years will equal the staggering sum of $85 million.

The FSB further estimates in this report that through Obama’s 3 accounts in the Vanguard 500 Index Fund he stands to make another $100 million over the next 10 years as their largest stock holding is in the energy giant Exxon Mobil they believe will eventually acquire BP and all of their assets for what will be essentially a “rock bottom” price and which very predictably BP has hired Goldman Sachs to advise them on.

Important to note is that none of this wealth Obama, Goldman Sachs, and other American elites is acquiring would be possible without this disaster, all of whom, as the evidence shows, “somehow” knew what was going to happen before it actually did, including the US energy giant Halliburton who 2 weeks prior to this disaster just happened to purchase the World’s largest oil disaster service company Boots & Coots”. Obama is a criminal and should be prosecuted for being a corporatist pig

Were you able to locate the original source for this? I would like to see it, please.

So far, 400 people have sought medical care for upper or lower respiratory problems, headaches, nausea, and eye irritation after trips to Escambia County beaches, Lanza said.

These are very nonspecific symptoms. Any strong noxious odor could cause them. I am sure the oil is the cause, but it doesn't indicate that the oil is more toxic than other strongly odorous stuff.

Edit: typo removal

Its been raining here quite a bit thanks to Alex and most of that rain is coming from the coast. Needless to say yesterday on our way to the Baton Rouge show we passed over the Basin and even me with my horrible eyesight could see the oil on the water. And after being inside all last night and a good chunk of today when we walked outside we could smell the oil
