I'm a newbie to keeping corns and have been reading b out handling after feeding, and i been gettin different answers.
so i'm wondering how long do you wait to handle yer snake after it feeds?

24 hours
36 hours
48 hours

We always wait 36-48 hours after feeding. We feed on Saturday nights and handle Monday evenings or afternoons.:)

i dont handle after feeding untill there is visual evidence that the meal is fully digested - for Chione thats usually 3 days..
if i try to handle her after 2 days i`ll just get poo`d on!

I handle my animals every day unless the individual in question is a known regurger. Then I give it a couple of days after eating. But, for the most part, they are handled every day, regardless of feeding schedules, with no difficulties whatsoever.

Does holding the snake in your hand while it eats count as handling? :)

I didn't vote in the poll because I'm not sure what counts as handling. FWIW, I've often had corns eat while I hold them. Afterwards, I gently put them back in the cage. And I've fed plenty of corns in separate containers and gently moved them back to the cage from 5 to 30 minutes after the meal.

Depending on the meal size and my schedule, I leave the snake alone for 1-3 days after it is returned to its cage after a meal. Unfortunately, with a variation like that, about the only answer I could give for the poll is "yes". :D

that entirely depends on the attitude of the snake, the approach to feeding, the size of the meal and the speed of digestion. I have no problems holding some snakes every day..where appropriate...

I handle mind everyday

I handle my guys every day if they've just eaten or not. I reduce the amount of time I handle them but I have had zero problems gently holding the next day after feeding.

the most... hmm

right after feeding no longer then 10-15 minutes but just on normal dandy days, I'll handle mine up to half an hour - 45 minutes. Not too long I guess.

about 24 hours

I usually wait about 24 hours after feeding, and don't have any problem... cept for maybe some poo... I've heard 24 more than anything else so that's what I would go with.

I am waiting 48 hours before I really handle mine. I feed him in a separate container, and so I do handle him after he's fully swallowed his prey to return him to his house. After that though, I leave him alone. I am a new snake owner, and this was recommended to me by several people, so that's what I'll do. It seems to work well.

I picked 24 hours...

because "I don't wait" wasn't an option. Like Darin, I handle my snakes whenever I need, regardless of feeding schedule. The only exceptions are known regurgers... and biters right after while they are still hungry! :eatpointe I think I have received more bites from feeding response than defense (excluding field collecting) so give them at least enough time to settle down. :duck:
