It depends to a certain extent on the snake's personality. If yours is calm, and some are, handle as you wish. You already said you're giving the baby a rest period after feeding, wiht sheds, etc.
If you have a nervous baby, you can either not handle it at all until it's bigger and less flightly, or you can handle it gently to help it get used to being a pet.
When you handle a nervous baby, be calm and confident when you pick it up. Expect it to try to shoot out of your hands, and make sure that it won't fall on anything that may hurt it if its escape attempt succeeds. Be sure your hands don't smell like a predator (cat, dog, parrot, etc.) and that the room is generally quiet. Keep the snake out until it calms down. Return it to its viv gently, and try the same thing again in two or three days.
Don't worry, corn snakes are noted for their good dispositions. Even spastic, twitchy babies usually become calm, gentle creatures as they grow. Enjoy yours!
