Hello all,

I think I may have a dilemma, but wanted some advice from more experienced people first.
I brought my little Pretzel home today at about 3pm and I made sure his temperatures were fine. Having bought him in a smaller container, I left the lid off and placed it inside the closed vivarium. I left to shower and when I came back, he was nowhere to be seen!

A search of ten minutes showed me he'd hopped into the larger area and was hiding under the bedding. I think something got him frightened because he wouldn't relax and his heart is beating much faster whenever I go near him (I can see it).

I'm unsure of the sex so I'm guessing 'he'.
Pretzel is approx 4 1/2 months old

Sounds normal to me. He just had the most stressful day of his life.
Give him about a week, left completely alone, before you feed him or get him out. He needs time to adjust.

I must have scared him this morning, he'd gotten out through a crack and fear striked three times as I got him back in.
I'll get that taped up ASAP!

Don't use tape anywhere that your snake could possibly get to. They will find a way to get stuck. A few dsquirts from a hot glue gun would plug up a hole and be safe in a matter of minutes.

See, I would probably do that but it's a secondhand vivarium and the previous owner made a hole the size of my fist. :/
What would you suggest I do to plug up the gap?

Is the hole in the glass? You could use hot glue to attach a piece of plastic over the hole or a piece of thin wood. A piece of plexiglass would blend great!

Oh, I completely forgot to mention where it is! Sorry! D: It's at the back, so what would be you guys' opinions?
