Handling Gravid Females

My snow may possibly be gravid. So far ive been handling her every day except the 48 hours after feeding, If she IS gravid should i stop handling her as she gets bigger?.

Gravid is the word that indicates the female is carrying eggs, which she will lay at some point in the future.

I personally don't pick mine up unless I must move them for some reason. I honestly can't say If I have read or heard one way or the other. I think my reasoning is more sympathetic then anything. I just don't think it would be comfortable for them to be held:)

You'd have to be gentle, but it has been somewhat "proven" that females who get more exercise when they are gravid have a less chance of eggbinding than females who get less exercise. So I would assume handling often during the early stages could be quite beneficial. I would make it short, but often and then taper off and not handle very much towards the end. That's what we did with my female.

It's also recommended to exercise a female immediately if she becomes egg bound or if you think she is bound. This will often help the egg to come out without requiring more invasive measures. I would say that it is safe to do gentile handling of the snake when she is gravid. Although sometimes they might get a little testy.
