I've had 3 escapes. In a weird and cruel twist of fate, it was the same three that I bought from Carol, and I've never had any other escapes. The first two were motleys and they got out of my Boaphile Rack before I figured out to use lids on the smaller tubs. The third one, a crimson, somehow got out of a 10 gallon I thought was totally secure. The lid must have been left slightly ajar. :shrugs: One day the snake just wasn't in there. I felt so awful. Unfortunately I never found any of them again. If I buy another snake from Carol I'm going to have to keep it in a triple secured viv!

Yup. First day I got her. Talk about luck. Then my mom threatened to step on it if she sees her, so it was a race between who would find her first.

Yup, not often but it happens. Eventually it happens to most all of us. The important thing--learn from mistakes.

had a couple...all were my stupidity in not properly securing the cage. You learn from your mistakes though, and escapes are few and far between.

Lil and Slim both escaped due to someone else not putting their lids on properly, William Bonney escaped because I didn't realise I'd not secured his feeding tub properly. All were found within 2 hours, under my bed is the destination of choice for escapees so far. The stress was incredible and I'm now so paranoid about securing the lids. I've left the hidey places (storage boxes and shoes) as they were just in case I have another escape, but check and double check the tubs each time I've had them open.
Mr Boney's biting habits made looking for him especially 'fun'

I had a snake escape. It was my little male butter I had gotton a few weeks earlier. I felt terrible, but found him I think two months later, still alive! He is smaller than my butter female I got at the same time, but he hasn't had any problems feeding or anything, and seems perfectly healthy. I've made sure everything is secure since then.

uggggg I had my first escape a few weeks ago :( My beautiful female butter is at large right now. I have a feeling she will turn up one day though.

3 escapes in 15 years.

2 down to a combination of beer and my own stupidity.

1 just down to my own stupidity.

All re-captured the next day .... thankfully!

no escapes...but i only got 2 snakes so i dont have that many to worry about compared to the other maniacs at this place haha :p

yes.. I had three "freedom finders"..

the first time was years ago, when I was dumb enoght to clean the tank when I was realy realy tired "it had to be done" ofcuorse I just closed the glasdors and looked.. in the middel of night I woke up and realised that I hadnt pushed the glas far enogh but I found both snakys within 5min! puh!!

next time was last fall, when I had this huge huge wall sized viv to my two smal smal boys.. it was feedingtime and I started to look for the boys in their favorite hidingplaces, but one was nowhere to be found.. 5 min (turning the room apart) later I remeberd that I jused to have this plant in the viv that the missing snake loved to hide in..now it was across the room.. I looked in there and there he was.. and NO he wasn´t in there when I moved the plant.. :grin01:

last time was no more than a week ago.. I was feeding and cleaning the juveniles boxes when a little snow said "-C ya!" and made a run for it :grin01: I could just scoop him up 2feet away!

I hope that thoos three will be the only ones!

I had one escape three days after I got him because I was foolish enough to believe a 5 lb weight would be too heavy for a baby corn to lift. That was almost 2 years ago and I never found him.

Hmmm

yes we have had escapees here as well...My orange candy cane male, my upper keys female and my upper keys male. The CC got out three months ago and I still haven't found him yet. The upper keys pair were helped to freedom by my 6 yr old son who wanted to play with the snakes...
I swear that boy is trying to give me a heartattack or drive me NUTS :crazy02:

I've got one on the lam right now. Been loose about 2 weeks. I can't believe the cats haven't found him yet. There must be a "no snakes" clause in their indoor cat handbook because they find everything else!

No. I've never had an escape, not yet. I am absolutely and completely paranoid about snakes escaping. And Connor is even in a converted fish tank, that needed a LOT of rennovation to make it snakeproof, and he hasn't escaped. I think 99.9% of escapes can be prevented with simple common sense, but that's just my opinion. No offence to anyone who's had escapes.
