HATCHLING THREAD (VOL. 3) 2014-2015 Edition

So here is a Kastanie X Mahogany hatching. Problem now is Mahogany "could" be Dominant from what I'm hearing by people that have bred them into other morphs. So that would throw a wrench in this whole breeding I did with Kastanie. Because if it's a Dom we are playing with I would have gotten the same results whether I bred it to Kastanie, Snow, Butter, Lavender....whatever.

So I guess next year I'll have to breed one to a WC and see the results from that.

Did all the hatchlings turn out mahogany/kastanie?

So until I get those pics here are some of those "Weird" orange things. They have had their second sheds so I figured I'd better post pics now. The interesting thing about them is unlike Kastanie/Mandarin and Sunrise types, these seem to be lacking orange coloration in the dorsal blotches. Usually they would have some orange coming in by now, but these guys are different.

This could be something new. I'm gonna have to grow them breed them to each other and to wild caught Corns to see if I can isolate the genes responsible for this. These seem to be Normal, Amel, and Hypo versions of whatever gene is present. There is also the "Striped Hypo" version which I haven't gotten pics of yet.

Enjoy!! :D

Gonna breed to kastanie/sunrise too? Will be interesting to sort out whether all these kastanie/mahogany/sunrise/mystery orange things are allelic or identical mutations + locality effects.

Very cool babies! My favorites are the hypo ones.

Yes, I'm gonna breed them to Sunrise/Kastanie typed as well.

I know you have it posted somewhere way back in this thread, but it is easier to ask rather than trying to find it, what were the parents ??

Also, stop holding out on us Steve, let's see the Hypo Striped one ;)

I think they are all look cool! I wonder if the orange on the sides will keep getting brighter. Looks great on Hypo and amel. Can't wait to see what comes of it!

Steve, I saw the photo of that sunkissed lava in your ad, and had to stop to catch my breath! :crazy01:

Thanks! I hope it keeps the color on the laterals but stays that silver color in the dorsal blotches.

Ahhhhh! Is that pretty representative of what the hatchlings look like post-shed? Or do you get some more orange-y ones too? Loving how red that one is.

REALLY, THAT'S GREAT DUDE !!!

Does this guy have one bottom jaw ?? I mean does it feed on it's own normally ??

Walter
:crazy02:BOUT' CORNS !!
It has two, but they are somewhat connected. It grabbed the pinky by itself which sorta shocked me lol! I wasn't expecting it to even consider eating.

Gottcha. That's really great man. I hope it does well for ya.

The reason I asked about the bottom jaw is, I hatched one simular to this years ago when I live back in Louisiana.
It was just a little less split, kinda two faces on one head and only one bottom jaw. It only lived a couple days :awcrap:
