Hatchling Ultramel Motleys, Amel Motleys and Classics! Maybe a Caramel??

medusacoils

Mr. Enigma!
Yeah, this is a nice clutch. I am seeing a wide variation in the coloration of these snakes. Most have shed, leaving just a few left. Oddly, it's just the dark ones who haven't shed yet. Double oddly, they were the last ones to hatch and come from the second male that was introduced.

I'm sure the dark red ones are Ultramels. The nice light ones are Amels. Their father is an Opal Motley. Mom is an Ultramel Motley het Caramel.

The four dark colored ones are either Caramels or Classics. I'm having difficulty distinguishing from the two. I have searched literally hundreds of hatchling pics for help identifying the difference, but still can't tell. What I can see is a big difference in the coloration on a few of their heads. As I have mentioned before, their father is a Hypo het Caramel and Bloodred.

Maybe someone can help me figure it out. My guess is that I have 2 Caramels and 2 Classics. I will put up individual pics as soon as they have finished shedding.

Wayne

Well part of the problem is you have Steve Park as a backdrop to your picture taking. Who is Steve Park??? I had to Google it.

You gotta have 2010 Denny Hamlin back there!

LOL ^^^^^^^^^^^^^ My 9yr old son agrees w/ you!!

Love the colors! Congrats!

Actually, I have no idea who he is either? :shrugs: Its my sons mouse pad, that happened to be on Christines lap at the time the pics were taken. My son likes sports of any kind, so any time he sees anything related, he wants. That was probably something we found at the Dollar store. LOL!

BTW, Hamlin my "arse"!!

You want Hamlin on your "arse"?! That would make a great tattoo for ya!

Smoke just happens to be visiting a dirt track in the region next weekend! I'm not sure I'm going to be able to go. I have to coach at the state long course meet. :uhoh:

These little ones are from the same mom, but a different dad. They have some nice hets to them. 100% Motley, Hypo and either Amel or Ultra. They are also poss het Caramel and Bloodred.

This next one is a head scratcher. There is a slight possibility it could be homo Caramel. I'm really leaning toward Classic, but ???? Looks really different from the other three Classics.

Thanks for looking!

He's very dark. Weird head pattern too (o:

Yes, very dark! Coloration on her is very different from the other "Classics" from that clutch. I may hold her back and see how she matures. Maybe some more yellow will come in? :shrugs:

So where are the supposed to be caramel ones? Am curious :)

Yeah, the last pic. The other three classics in the clutch are the Classics. The last pic of the really dark one with the different head pattern is the one in question.

It's very possible that she is a Caramel. Both parents are 100% het Caramel. :shrugs:

Thanks for looking!

Wow, Wayne! What a clutch!

Major congrats to you!

Thanks Andrew!! This one is full of surprises. I have a few I'm really looking at holding onto, but not decided yet. The variation in color in a few of them is wonderful!

Thanks again my friend!!
