Heat Cable

I use one of those in one of my improvised rack systems. I run it under the tubs (not inside) and have it on a rheostat to keep the temps at 85. Works good as a way to heat multiple enclosures, but, probably not as good for having inside the tank though.

Great thanks. I just got two 20 long glass tanks and thought about running the heat cable under the tank. But when it said you could run it inside, I had to question it...

So I could use one cable for both tanks... that sounds even better.

Yep, I think it would work that way. You just need to make sure they don't cross over themselves and there is space in between the rows you bend it into, which kinda makes common sense... otherwise it could melt itself and short out. But I do feel putting it inside is asking for trouble since the snake could move it around or burn itself. I'd also make sure if it goes under a 20 long that the edge of the tank wasn't squishing it down.

Great, Sounds like good advice. I have spacers to put under the tanks so that the tanks are lifted off the surface they are sitting on. That should give enough room. Then I would be able to run the cable from one tank to the other. I will do more review of how I am going to set up the two tanks and then see if the cable will work.

If they end up side by side, this could really work and save money. If they are on shelves on top of one another then this would probably not work. I will see once I get my shelving unit it.

I have that in my Boa's cage, I haven't had any problems with it getting to warm, and it stays pretty constant. I wove it into a hide so that he could have heat from above when the heat lamp was off. It worked out pretty well. Only issue I can see is that corns like it a bit cooler then boas, so a heat control might be good for cornsnakes.
