heat lamp, heat mat, or heat rock

Why do you keep posting threads on this topic? You KNOW from the MANY threads you've started what you need to do to care for your snake properly.

If your mother is not "into snake care" then why do you have a snake?
You are a child, way too young to take proper care of any living thing without parental support. If she won't even buy the BASICS that your animal needs, that animal should not be in that house at all.

I was wondering about the differences between a bottom mounted heat pad and a side mounted heat pad.....most people say bottom. However i have a good friend whos corn snake is a healthy five year old....can anyone tell me the pros and cons. She had said the snake could burn itself if it digs into the bark. I wouldn't want that to happen. But I have my doubts the tank will get warm enough on its side.....Please help me.

Corn snakes need belly heat so mounting on the bottom would be the way to go. Also be aware that you need to use a digital thermometer, and a thermostat with any heat source to control how warm it gets.

Heat mats are designed to heat the surface they're in contact with, not to radiate heat into the air in the tank. Therefore a side-mounted heat mat will only heat the side of the tank and the snake will have to stay very close to the wall to get any benefit. It limits the size of the correct warm temperature zone to a very thin strip along the base of the wall.

A heat mat will only get dangerously hot for a Corn is it's used without a regulator. A thermostat or dimmer is always needed to keep them cool enough. They're degined to work for a range of reptiles, many of which need it much warmer than a Corn. A heat mat on the floor with a bit of kit to keep it at the right temperture is safe and will never burn the Corn.

Let me repeat, yes this is solrwind. Mommy ain't into snake care. That means mommy won't buy what snakey NEEDS, and snakey will therefore suffer since solrwind is at the mercy of mommy and has no source of income.

Since you already have a snake, and your mom "is not really into snake care", it is your responsibility to provide for the animal. You did a good thing by coming here for advice, but you won't take ANY advice from the many many experienced people who have tryed to give it to you.

I got my first snake when I was 13. The difference between you and me is, I saved up my money for months, along with months of research. I also don't get allowance, but I did chores around my house and my family's houses for money. My mom wasn't thrilled about me getting a snake either, but both of my parents have always had pets, and they know how important it is to take care of them properly. Also, since my mom found out that I was really into this, she has warmed up to the idea of me having snakes, and even enjoys holding them.

I didn't find this site until I had had my snake Nina for about 5 months. I asked questions, LISTENED to the adivce I got, and fixed my setup so it was the best possible environment for my snake. I now babysit for a job, and spend most of my money on my animals. Heck, I'm only 16, and just look at my signature to see how many animals I have. I ask any quetions I have to experienced people, I take their advice, and I think I do a pretty dang good job of caring for all my pets.

A lot of websites out there don't have good info on caring for corn snakes. Any info you have gained in the last 3 months may not be right, so you should keep an open mind in order to take care of your snake.

I love this hobby, and I'm going to do it for the rest of my life. If you want to have snakes/reptiles/any pet for that matter, you need to take advice of people who know what they are talking about. Everyone here is just trying to help you.

Dakota that was really well said. Hearing it first hand from someone like you can only help.

Very well done. If more young keepers have an attitude like yours, that gives me a lot of hope for the future of this hobby.
