heat mat???

No, as they increase in size they increase in wattage. You need one that is about 1/3 the size of the bottom of the viv. And since they get over 110F, hot enough to burn the snake, you need a thermostat or rheostat to control the temp.

You'll need a rheostat to control the heat on the heat mat while there not all the same "strength" they all get waaaaay to hot without a rheostat and can harm your snake. Also the heat mat should only be on one side so there is a temp gradient:)

Here in Europe you can buy a good range of stats from a manufacturer called "Living Earth Electronics". I use their "HabiStat Mat Stat". They're designed specifically for use with a UTH. Most reptile shops will stock these or you can buy them online.
