ok so for the past month that i've had my snake ive been using a heat lamp. ive used heat lamps in the past with many of my other reptiles, some being snakes, and it always works out quite well for me. i make sure that i have two digital thermometers on both sides of the viv so that i can keep track of the temperatures. recently i decided to buy a heat pad since everyone suggests it. so i bought that and a rheostat to make sure it doesn't get too hot. ok now to my point...i hooked it up, put the dial on low and waited 30mins (said on the package to wait about 30mins for it to heat up) the temp went to around 76F on the warm side and wasn't changing so i turned the dial up to medium. i then kept checking on it and the temp raised to 88F and still rising so i decided to then unplug it and go back to the lamp since i didnt want to harm the snake. i tried the same thing over about two more times and it did the same thing. i don't know what to do:shrugs::shrugs: am i doing something wrong?? should i keep trying with the heat pad or just go back to the lamp?
