I know i know .... i sould go and look at the heating forums but i hate looking threw 30 forums and not finding all the answers i needed.
so .....
I have a 20 gallon long tank
i have a SlimLine Super UV lamp ( long ) 15 watt
and i have a night glow 25 watt.

Now i have the Uv lamp on all day for 12 hours but then i have the night glow on 24 hours.

I used to have a burm and i had heat on him all the time but i just wanna now if it may be to hot during the day cuz there are 2 lights on.

dont they need heat all day?
I have the UV lamp on timer, sould i just put the night glow on timer too and just have it come on at night.

Sould i use a 15 watt night glow or 25 night glow?

Just answer these and there will be no more posts like this from me ever again lol

Sorry buddy, I know nothing about heating a corn snake cage with lights. Most here would say that you don't need light and/or should not use them as a main heat source. An UTH is preferred. My light (UV) is turn on in the morning and then turn off at dusk. To simulate day time. Sorry I couldn't help you.
 
Ok

Well they don't need overhead heating ALL day and night. I do know that. But as long as you have a ground heater, they will be just fine. But during the day you should probably only have the Uv light on all day and turn it off at night, but if it works to use both... Go for it. :)
 
Bleach, it doesn't much matter if you use a UTH or overhead lights for heat. Some people like UTHs, some like overhead lights. I use both. Whatever method you use, you ought to achieve a ambient air temperature gradient in your tank from the low to mid 70s (on the cold end) to mid 80s (on the hot end). You ought to have a basking area in the high 80s to 90 somewhere on the hot end.

Are you able to achieve this with the lights you have?

My recommendation to anyone is to know what the temps in your tank are before you go changing anything. Once you know what you are achieving, its easier to help you figure out where you ought to be.
 
i keep my house at about 75.
The side were he basks would be were i keep the night glow light on. It gets about high 80ish and the cooler side it dosent feel that hot but he seems to be on the cooler side alot more.
I will say thto that once i got him from the pet store and then put some heat on himhe was flying threw the cage. lol
It was like it was a new snake in there lol

I think ill just take out the 25watt night glow and stick in the 15watt night glow.
Sence u guys said they dont need that much heat. Imma get a new temp gauge in a day or 2 and see were im at .
What are the temps again?

night 70-75

My temps drop and raise "naturally" with the day and evening temperatures. I just try to get them in that range.
 
I don't worry about night/day temperature changes.

I have a 20L tank for my snake, and I have a 3watt Cobrat Heat Mat attached to the outside wall on the left sidewall of the tank. I have a thermometer stuck to the wall right in front of the heat mat reading 80-85*F all the time(it is not a "stick-on aquarium thermometer", it is held to the wall with a suction cup). The thermometer on the right side of the tank, the "cold" end, stays at 70-75*F all the time. I use ambient light during the day with nothing additional on the tank, and a 15watt red incandescent at night for night-viewing pruposes only. The red light is off-set from the top of the tank, so it isn't providing any heat.

I also have one hide set up, with no back, right in front of half of the heat mat, so that the snake can hide right in line with the heat. She can also bask on top of the hide right in front of the heat mat, or wander along the top of the substrate, which is also being heated by the heat mat. The actual temperature at the top of the substrate on the warm end is mid-70's, while the ambient air temp. is at ~85. On the cool end, the substrate temp. is mid-60's with an ambient air temp. of ~70.

Hope this was helpful. The first thing you need to do is get a thermometer and an Hygrometer so you know exactly what your temperature and humidity levels are at all times.
