Hey all,

I am wanting your opinions on an odd kind of heating.
My enclosures have lights on dimmers, but no heat tape. So I was thinking of placing a heat absorbing material, ie. slate, beneath the light.

I'm thinking that the rock can be warmed by the light- as natural as heating can get.

Your opinions?
 
It could work, you'd have to get a temp gun to make sure that the surface area doesn't get too hot though... which if you're using lights now it probably doesn't haha. I don't use lights so I'm just guessing :shrugs
 
Yeah.
Unfortunately it's too late to put heat tape into these enclosures, and I keep the cabinet lights on dimmers.
