Hi ask. First ever post and new corn snake owner.

When I need a bigger viv, is height critical? I say this because I love the look of the Monkfield vivarium with opening lid but the largest is only 8' high. Would this be OK?

In my opinion, no. While corn snakes are not considered arboreal they do need some vertical height. 12 to 18 inches is a better height.

I agree. They benefit from some height and some elements to climb such as a branch or some fake plants or vines. I think 8" is a bit too limited, but 12-18 is what is recommended and would be OK. In the UK you have some viv brands that look very nice! You can easily find another option that looks nice.
 
With the proper amount of floor space given to the size snake you have then the 8 inch height is ok. Most tubs in rack systems are 6 to 8 inches.
I would suggest a taller Viv also. It would be easier to get the right ambient temp and heat gradient and I think you would enjoy the better versatility in decorating it.
 
I like the thought of the 8 foot tall viv! :p

This reminded me of that scene in "This Is Spinal Tap" where the little people dance around the mini Stonehenge set.
