Home depot sells dimmers for about 10 bucks. One like
this works great.
So here is what you will need ..
1. UTH
2. A dimmer or a thermostat or a reostat to control the temp. of the UTH
3. A thermometer with a probe.
This is what you need to do...
1. Plug the UTH into the dimmer (or the thermostat or the reostat) then plug that into the receptacle
2. Place the probe directly over the center of the UTH, inside the tank (directly on the glass). I use sticky tack to keep it in place. Tape in not recommended...you could also silicone it onto the glass but make sure it is completely dry and cured before placing you corn in the tank.
3. Now fiddle around until you get the heat at the perfect setting...80-84f is ideal...a bit higher is okay but you don't want to get over 88 or 89F and not for any real length of time.
4. There ...all set. Your cool side you can pretty much leave. Just provide hides on both sides and one in the middle (kind of half on the UTH and half off) to give your corn plenty of places to hide or burrow.
I hope this helped you.
