iam going to rectify this but as this is my first snake i had no idea untill i got the advice on here, they both rest/sleep (whatever they do) both in the same hide, they will NOT go into seprate hides, if one goes the other goes.If one changes hides, the other follows.
anyway im not trying to justify my error and lack of research on the housing subject and like i said i will rectify this asap.
thanks for the advice all of you, i'm learning fast with your help![]()
Good for you, Tango Sprite. Good for your new snakes, too. The reason they do NOT go into separate hides is because they're competing, not because they're making snuggly with a friend. There's a little dominance struggle going on their viv. Corn snakes don't snap and growl like dogs when trying to sort things out, but it's still a type of territorial behavior.
Great idea. Yes, Wade, I said it again. If they get too hot they will move on their own as long as there is a cool end for them to move to. Your thermometers are fine but it they are up where you can read the temperature then you are measuring the air temperature. Try buring them in the wood shavings for 30 minutes and then look at them and see what they say.
ive got everything in the tank as advised by you nice people lol the only thing is the temp on the warm side is 80F and its also 80F on the cold side, i have a heat mat under 1/3 of the viv and im a little confused as to why both sides are the same temp, yes the info on 2 snakes being housed has been taken and i will rectify this ASAP as i dont want harm coming to these gorgeous snakes![]()
Is your viv made of plastic? If so, it's possible that the temps in the substrate and not as variable as you'd expect. Plastic vivs are safe, inexpensive and convenient to buy. They can also be challenging when it comes to heat regulation. Not impossible, but tricky. Are the temps you mentioned from the substrate or the air?
