HELP ME!!!! I need tubs!

pgr8dnlvr

An obsolete oldie...
I live in BC canada and am having a LOT of trouble finding tubs for my future rack! I REALLY want the iris cb-110 or something similar sized! Can ANYONE help me find where I can buy these tubs? OR Could someone please buy consider buying them for me <after they recieve funds from myself> and shipping them out to me???

Thanks guys..

Rebecca

How do you suggest I do that? Noone here who I have spoken too has even heard of Iris. We do not have any of that store that was mentioned on the other thread... Sam's was it? Even if I can get the Iris company phone number somehow maybe I could order something from them due to the fact I have two friends with businesses so they could buy via "wholesale" method. Lord knows I have enough friends up here who would want in on the buy of those tubs....

Any ideas?? :)

Have you tried OfficeMax or Office Depot. They both carry the Iris brand--that's where I have bought some before. I believe there are Office Depot's in Canada.

THANKYOU THANKYOU THANKYOU Guys!! :)

Those were awesome ideas, particularly the office type shops! I searched and searched and I finally did find somewhere that would work shipping wise! Reptiletubs.com!!!

They have two boxes I'm interested in! the cb-110 and the other one that is 37"x22"x6"! I'm so happy!

Oh and to the person who suggested I look at other brands.. I just couldn't find any other brand that had a length of at LEAST 36" that had the other dimensions in a good ratio... It's shocking there are not more LARGE boxes out there! Oh well, thank goodness for iris! :)

Now I just need help with figuring out the last bit of my rack design...

What heat tape should I go with 4" or 11"?

Factors I need to consider...

If I almost completely cover the back wall with heat tape, will there be enough ventilation in the boxes? I plan to put lots of airholes in the containers but consider that there will be only 1" on either sides of the boxes and the frame of the rack.

If I do do the back wall method, will it be able to provide a large enough "warm side" to the containers, considering that the width of the shelves is going to be 24" and most tubs will be using 22" of that?

Maybe I should consider just putting a line of tape on each shelf. But the problem is, if I use 11" tape then almost half of the tub would be directly over the tape. If I use 4" tape that would mean that only about 1/5th of container would be over the "warm spot"... Would that be enough?

Keep in mind I would like to turn off or at least turn the electric heat in the room that the snakes will be in waaaaaaaay down. Thus the room temp will likely be quite cool in the winter. In the summer I am betting I will be able to turn the heat tape off all together most days! But anyway, maybe cool room temp will factor in the to the 11" tape on shelf method. ie. the cool side right near the front of the container could end up being quite a bit cooler if I put lots of airholes in the front/viewing side..

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, anyone with experience or even things I have not thought about SPEAK UP! :)

Thanks
Rebecca

HOLY CRAP!! I feel sooooooo lucky! I usually never read through flyers, but for some reason I did last night, what did I see??? TUBS!!! My local Canadian tire is selling tubs that are 37"x22"x6 1/2"!!! They are HALF PRICE!! $8.99 Canadian! Merry Christmas to me!

My buddy is going down Friday morning when they go on sale to pick some up for himself and me! He is planning on getting about 40 of them, and little ole' me is only going for 6 this time :( I bet he's going to get some REALLY strange looks when he goes! lol!

I also see that the online reptile supply store <mg?> that I found on here is having a sale on the thermostat I want :) Looks like things might finally get rolling for me!

Geeze..what trouble you've had.

I order most things offline, and have even considered ordering Iris tubs from The Container Store online thing as I adore Iris tubs. They're so more well made than Sterilite or Rubbermaid and are perfectly clear, which is a big plus. And the lids have an inside and outside lip all the way around, that the box fits into, so no buckling lids that hatchlings can escape from. Just have to remember their locking mechanisms don't work worth a hoot, so I've got a couple rubber bands around each end of them. But so far, they're working great for hatchlings. I hope to get some larger ones for racks for yearlings or something.

I got my Iris shoeboxes from Costco out in Montana, and shipped them back to myself last year. I simply cannot find Irises in SW Indiana.

But our local Walmart has Sterilite tubs that are 36" long and come in either heights of 18" or 6", both of which I use currently. Just have to look around. =)
