Help!! Mites!!!

Just found out that our snake has mites. I've looked through other posts and looked up Provent-A-Mite, but quickly realized that they don't ship outside the USA. Is there anything that we can do for our snake?

When I took in a rosy boa with mites about 12 years ago now...I used something called California Lotion. It worked for me. I don't know if the stuff is still made though.

Have you checked to see if any equivalent products are available in your area? The active ingredient is Permethrin. I would think something would be commercially available that you could buy.

I've heard of people using other powdered insecticides, but I would be very careful using anything not specifically marketed for snakes.

I buy Provent-a-mite shipped from the US to Wales, are you sure they don't ship, or it a bann in your country or something.....
I find Provent-a-mite the best thing for getting rid of mites permanently....

I used Nix when we found mites on our corn. It worked great for me and can be purchased in any drug store..although the Petland actually provided me with mine with an instruction sheet on how to use it.

I've used hypoaspis miles with great success. I've always been a huge fan of natural solutions. They devoured the snake mites and all I had to do was keep their peat moist. It's effective because they will hunt down any mites living in the terrarium. Places that are hard to clean. Eat their eggs too.

Since my snakes crawled all through the moss and peat they came in, they infested them. I totally recommend them over anything else!

They are neat to watch do their job ;)

I've heard of Nix and Sevin dust being used. If you like, I or another member can dig through the forums here and find the exact method used.

We did the Nix solution last night, and the mites seem to be gone. I'll obviously be looking out for them for the rest of the week and do the other 2 treatments. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!!
