I M Currently Using Carpet For Bottom Of My Corn's Cage. I Was Wondering If Sand Would Be Ok. I Do Not Like The Brick Form's Of Substrate Its Too Messy. So Was Curious About Sand Type Substate. Thank
No Sand! Not good, aspen is what most people say. I'm not sure what you mean "brick form". I've read that some folks use carpet indoor/outdoor but you should have a few pieces, for cleaning time. But the sand is a no. I couldn't see how sand wouldn't be a hassle when you clean the viv every 6 to 8 weeks. Read the search section here. There more info there.
Lenny Thanks For The Info. I Thank I Will Use Aspen Shavings. What I Mean For Brick Form Is The Bed Of What Ever That Soak In Waster And It Doubles In Size. I Had It For My Frogs And It Was Just Messy. Sticks To The Animals And Everything , I Have Carpet Now And Wife Says Its Hard For Her To Keep Clean Etc., So I Must Do What The Boss Says Right Lol Thank
I didn't think of indoor/outdoor carpet until I saw a caresheet last year (I forget where it was) from a respectible breeder that said for one or two snakes the carpet was just as good. I have 3 sheets cut for each of my 2 snake tanks, so swapping out and cleaning is a breeze.
For a natural vivarium, you can't beat Aspen. It is terrifice stuff. I just like the "display" properties of carpet, so that is why I use it.
well went out this weekend and could not find aspen so i bought pine shavings. put it in tank and he went to burrowing in it all over. looks like he was having fun burrowing in the pine.
