this may be a silly question, but what are hemostats used for? I've seen them listed for sale a few times on various reptile supply websites. And even Kathy Love has them for sale on her website under herp handling/feeding tools. What are they used for?
 
To feed f/t or pre-killed prey. Sometimes people use them to "dangle" the prey to elicit a feeding response. This keeps hands out of the way and prevents getting mistaken for food.

Chopsticks! I'd never thought of using those for feeding. I was trying to work out what I had around the house to feed my guys with and could only come up with tweezers. I've got a drawer full of chopsticks that we never use, so thanks Tinycritters :)
 
I use big (12") stainless steel tweezers that I got from ReptileSupply.com. I don't tease feed but I use them for moving F/T mice around, so that they don't get my scent on them. They also come in handy for holding a pinky while cutting slits in its back, if you need to do this.

I picked up a hemostat at the show today for a dollar. Brought it home, and my wife said, "Hey, a multitasker" (Alton Brown reference). Wonder what she meant?
