Herpstat ND thermostat: required extra cable?

For those of you who've bought a herpstat ND thermostat, did you need to buy an extra cable to enable the ND feature? I'm looking at Bean Farm's catalog and they sell an extra cable. The description of the cord says it's required for the ND feature. Does this sound right?

Ah shoot

I swear I looked at both of those descriptions for 20 minutes and didn't pick that up. I guess I just needed a second pair of eyes. Thanks so much!
