hey there i just woke up this morning and saw my corn in the blue... real cool ...lol. and i soaked my hands and handled him. then i got a wet paper towell and made a little packet and put him in there and hi took a poop....lol. so i got another paper towel changed his water bowl and put the parper in his hidee. how and doing help wise so far?

Well its good that you are keeping his hide humid that should help - but if he's just now in blue he won't actually shed for another 1-3 days. I think he will prob. be ok doing it on his own - but should he need help the things you did were ok! Hope it all comes off in one piece!

Good, but they don't usually shed when they are blue. They are blue for several days, they go clear (back to a dull form of their usual color) then they shed within a day a two. You can keep the paper towel in there, but you've still got about a week give or take. Some of my big snakes may even take two weeks to shed. This is not saying the shed comes off in bits and pieces it should come off in one piece. In the really blue phase a couple of my snakes don't like to be handled and get a little fiesty, but this is because they are essentially blind at this time.

Most corns go off food completely while in blue (has yours gone into hiding perchance?) but when mine was young he would eat anyway, so it won't harm to offer him food. If he refuses wait until the day after he has shed completely.

It sounds like this is the first shed you've witnessed - remember to look for the eye caps and tail tip in the shed skin :)

Some will eat when blue some won't offer him food on normal day, that is the only way you can find out. I have one that will eat at anytime, once she ate and shed 5 minutes later. One that will somtimes eat in that clear phase and some who don't eat until a day or two after shed. Now I always offer food on feeding day and don't go off schedule for me Thur., it makes it so much easier for me.

I don't try to feed anyone while they're blue- but if I have the mouse thawed and get the snake out and then discover that they're blue, then they get the chance to eat if they want to. Now that I have Jake who will clean up any leftovers I don't worry about anyone not eating.
