Hey Guys

I am Kayla, I live in Canada, and I just got my first snake today (Corn). I grew up around reptiles because my mom was into it for a while (gecko's, beardies, a turtle, and some other things). I have always liked snakes, and have done some research, but I'm still a newb.
First feeding later today! Have a good one.

Hi, welcome! I'm new too, I just got my first corn yesterday. The paper that was shipped with her said to wait 3-5 days before feeding, and people on the forum have told me to wait as much as a week! I am a newb just like you but I thought I would share the info I have gotten so far. I am planning to try feeding on Monday, waiting is so hard I want to do everything now!

Will you post pics of your snake?

I hadn't heard anything about waiting on feeding, so I fed already. Gobbled it down no problem, and is a great eater! Thanks for the tip though. I will post pics as soon as I can get good ones! Moves around so much I can't get a decent pic.

Congrats on the new snake!! I like to give them a week to settle in before feeding or handling, I think it is common practice now among most keepers.

Viv Pics...

This is my viv so far, and I will of course do more with it. I made the climby-shelf-thingy last night with wooden dowels, vines from the dollar store, and a hot glue gun. Gave myself a wicked burn in the process, but the end result is awesome.
My snake sits under the waterbowl part of the hide because it's tighter under there. You can't see it in the picture, but there is a temp probe on the left side, which is the hot side, and I bought cage clips to keep him/her getting out.

Very pretty, I like how you added a little color to the foliage. My Veras viv just has the fake vines, and I want to add some sort of flowers or something. And the climbing shelf thing looks like a lot of fun!

I like it too! They had these big bunches of these purple leafyness, and I thought the purple and green would look nice, but to make things a little more interesting. It was actually super easy to make, and as long as you don't drop a huge gob of hot glue on your fingers, you should be good! (;

Oh I'm an old pro at burning myself with a glue gun ;) I do it at least a few times a year, haha. I managed to not burn myself while I was putting my viv together though! Great success! I will have to look around for some little bright flowers or leaves to put in there. Where did you find yours? They only had big obnoxious ones at the dollar store here.

What a beautiful viv.

Well I live in Canada, and I got mine at the Dollarama across the street from me. They had these vines with these huge ridiculous daisies and sunflowers on them, and a lot of fake grass, which I found sort of odd.

Hobby lobby or Michaels is a great place to find flowers, I got vines yesterday for Darth Maul. But gotta wait to put them in.

PICS

I finally figured out this picture thing. I took a vid on my phone of the first feeding, and paused The video at a good frame and took a snapshot, so I have a good picture. I used the measuring widget, and my snake is about 1'4" long!
This picture was taken during a feeding, and is not in the tank. I have a little 2.5 gallon that was laying around the house, and I am using that for feeding.
