First time corn snake owner here to say hello! I'm sure I'll be asking a lot of questions eventually (new mommy = paranoid) so figured I might as well get an introduction out of the way.

The baby is a 5-week-old crimson (hypo + miami I think?) who's currently nameless but I don't think she minds. :) I got her when she was 12 days old and so far she's been great, she eats like a champ and loves to climb around and explore. Right now she's a little grumpier than usual because I think she's getting ready to shed, but other than that, she's lovely and so cute it almost hurts.

Here's a picture, not the best lighting but when I have her out of the tank she doesn't like to sit still long enough to be photographed! And yes, the plant is plastic.

Adorable! Where did you pick up your corn? I notice you're in Seattle, did you go to the Puyallup event?

Nope, no car unfortunately. I ordered her online from a breeder - shameless plug for vmsherp.com, they had a lot of pretty babies and it was hard to choose!

I'm looking there now and I'm amazed at how well the site is put together as far as displaying the available snakes, their info and pricing. Most sites I've looked at aren't as detailed.

Where do you get her food from? Do you buy locally or order online?

I just go lazy and get pinkies from PetCo with no problems so far...most of the websites I've found won't sell anything less than 50 at a time and while she is a good eater, I don't want that many mice in my freezer for that long.

Also though I've heard there are people in the Pacific Northwest Herpetological Society (http://www.pnwhs.org) who take orders for feeder mice and will bring them to meetings (but once again, no car and I'm lazy) so you might look into that if you want a more local source.

Welcome to CS. com. You come to the right place to have any of your corn questions answered. Good luck with your new snake.

Tert,
I believe I've got your snakes sister.

My wife and I just got into having our own corn snake as well. She had some growing up, and we recently decided to get our own.

Haven't had a chance to get any pictures of her, but we've only had her for 2 days, so we're letting her acclimate to her new surroundings.
I weighed her today and she's a whopping 7 grams.

Thanks to cornsnakes.com for all the help in figuring out what we need for our little baby.
Andrew
