Hello there, I am a very new snake owner. I was planning on getting a king snake, doing my research and getting everything ready, but I went into a pet store, I know, bad, I don't support pet stores usually, but this little red corn snake was just too pretty and too perfect to pass up! I think he/she is about a year old, only I am not sure how old the snakes in pet stores usually are when they are sold. Still pretty small, not even a foot long, but the past few days have been wonderful with him/her. I haven't found a name yet, unfortunately, and I am working on getting pictures to post. So far, My baby corn prefers hiding in the plastic Spanish moss plant I bought, coiling up in the tendrils of long moss, than any other hiding place I have provided. I think this is the start of a beautiful relationship between my corn snake and me, but I still don't know a lot about snake care, that is why I joined this forum!

Welcome Isabella. I would think your snake is just a few month old if it is under a foot in length. Is she eating? F/T pinkies? How often?

Anyway, you'll learn a lot here.

She is so knew that I haven't fed her yet. I've only had her a few days, and everyone here says to wait about a week before trying to feed her. I was told to feed her f/t pinkies though.

And yes, I already am learning a lot here.

My baby corn is 6 weeks od is 13" at 2 weeks he was 9" (or so the breeder claimed I measured him at over 10" the day I bought him at 2 weeks and 5 days old. He had to be 13" the day I bought him, even tho he had 2 mice the day before I bought him I haven't seen him shed or eat since). my other corn is over 4' at about 3 yrs old. Hopefully this gives you some perspective.

Welcome to the forum. There is a wonderful book out there written by Bill and Kathy Love that we would recommend if you would like to learn more about corn snakes and their care - we got it when we first started and still refer to it frequently today: The Comprehensive Owner's Guide: Corn Snakes. Kathy Love has it on her website here:http://www.cornutopia.com/
