Hogg Island question... (pricing)

zeewhiz

Call me Matt...
Hey Ya'll,

A guy I know is wanting to sell me his adult male hogg island boa (100% hogg, I might add). His asking price is $200. My question is, is that a fair price, or is it too low/high? I'd pay that for the snake, its no question. I just don't wanna get ripped off in the process.

THanks,

Matt

I would say that it was fair to cheap, you would probably be looking at between 100-200 for a hatchling so i would say it was good.

That said can you get documentation from the breeder proving it to be 100% pure hogg?

Also being from england our prices are slightly different to yours!

i doubt I could get paperwork, but he did buy him direct from a breeder in NC... not that that adds any more validity to the statement.

I was at a reptile expo in Nov, and a vendor had an adult pair for $450, so I'd say that you're getting a good deal there. I'd asked other vendors and breeders at the show who assured me that it was a good asking price. I'm actually still wishing I'd gotten them.

There's one on Craigslist here for $150... If I had the money and the room, I'd be snatching it up.
At the last Daytona expo, there were Hogg Islands going for anywhere from $150-$300 as babies.

I agree with Torsen, $200 for an adult is very fair, if not cheap.
I got my unsexed hogg as a baby for $125 and I've seen adult pairs for as much as $600 with paperwork, though I think thosewere readyto breed.
Make sure he's not tempermental or anything though. If I had the cash and was in the area (also if i was interested in an adult right now), I'd probably look more into it, so I'd suggest you do, too.

Hope it all goes well for you!
