Not something I expected to see in the parents' backyard, but its kinda cute! Well, minus the whole hissing and flattening into a pancake thing. :) He's definitely not hurting for a meal though! Probably why he scoped out a spot by the barn. Who knows how many field mice & packrats this guy has cleared out. I am definitely not very educated about Hognoses, aside from being able to identify them. Is this any particular kind?

I kinda figured it was a Western, since I am in Az. I heard from a buddy of mine that the wild populations in the Sonoran were starting to become identifiable by locale. This guy was found in Pinal County. Anyone hear anything about that? I couldn't tell you one way or another. Every hognose I've ever seen looks pretty much the same, lacking any really obvious discernable differences.
