Hoppers not enough (IMO)

Hello all!! My cornsnake is about 4 months old now, 22 inches long. He's been on hoppers for the past 6 weeks, but there is barely a bulge now after eating and very active afterwards. I think 2 hoppers would be to much for him. Is it okay to feed 1 hopper and then maybe a fuzzy too? His feeding schedule is every 7 days and the day before he's ready to eat, he's never struck me but he gets in his stance like he's ready too. I'm scared to feed 2 hoppers because I have a little one that's regurged on too big of a pinkie and don't want this one too. Any suggestions would help!!

Most snake owners first size the meal up to 2 items of he same size for a few times, I also size up first to a second but smaller item (or to just a bigger specimen of the size he is used too, depending on if the snake has grown more lenghtwise or girthwise), like a fuzzie following a hopper. To me it seems like a good idea.

By the way; 22 inch for a 4 month old is really a good growing rate!

I agree, he is growing and growing. After following much advice on this forum in regards to how often to feed, I've been following exactly (every 5 days for pinkies & fuzzies and then to 7 days with hoppers & bigger). He was born in August and was on pinkies until middle of October. I took him with me to my reptile store to get a food item and the owner looked at the snake and told me he should be on fuzzies already. So we tried that for about a month and then silly me, had my husband go pick up a fuzzy and he brought back a hopper. Following the 1 1/2 times bigger rule, mouse looked to be about that size and sure enough the snake ate him. He's been shedding once a month and no regurges so all is well.

Both my snakes refused a meal last night. Temperatures here have been below freezing so not sure if that has something to do with it, although warm side of the viv's are 82. My 2 month old snake regurged 11 days ago now so it's been almost 3 weeks since she's had a meal. Nothing to worry about though right? She's so tiny (about 8 inches long), I can't help but worry. Will try again to feed in 4 days while keeping my fingers crossed.

Happy Holidays to everyone!!
