right now i have amel corn snake that is feeding on f/t pinkies and was going to get a butter motley within a few months whenever i can find an 08 hatchling, now should i be able to house them together or is that a bad idea?

Bad idea. They aren't social animals in the wild and to keep them together in a confined space would only stress them out unecessarly. You also wouldn't be able to monitor their health very well if anything goes wrong.
This comes up fairly regularly and there are a lot of stories of things that have gone wrong.

Very bad Idea....They could also (small possibility - but still possible) become canibilistic and eat the other!

Premature breeding if they're unsexed/sexed incorrectly is the biggest concern, as kcaven said, cases of cannibalism are very rare.

As Bram said, they're not social creatures and living together in a confined space would stress them out. Also, this new snake could harbour parasites, mites etc. that could transfer to your other snake, as you wouldn't be able to perform any type of quarantine.

All the best

David

I was never a fan of cohabbing. When I had a heater mishap I thought I could get away with it for a short time. As a result, a beautiful striped girl is dead now.
