How Long Can Frozen Keep?

So my question is this...how long do frozen mice keep, before they're unsafe to feed your snake? I was looking into buying in a little more bulk to get a better price, however at this time I only have one snake to feed and didn't want them to spoil.

The longest I've kept them is about 4 months. They look about as good as when I got them, and the snakes like them just fine. You might go longer than that, but I'm not sure the maximum shelf life would be. I would imagine 6 mos if not vacuum-packed.

I think it also depends on whether your snake minds a little freezer burn. Freezer burned human food is generally still nutritious, just may not have the right taste or texture. For a picky eater this matters. The same probably applies to snakes.

Personally, I figure 6 months if not vacuum packed, 12 months if vacuum packed. YMMV.

My vacuum sealer states that meat products can be kept 1-2 yrs if sealed properly, I have been doing this with my mice. None of my mice have been around longer than 6-8 mths yet(all eaten before then) but those all looked and felt the same as the day they arrived. As well not a one of my snakes has turned those mice down!

I want to add to Josh's question, if i may, how would you guys vacume seal your mice? or would you get a special bag for that?
