How long does it take for a hatchling to gain weight?

Lover of all things shiny
I feed her once every 5 days and weigh her before each feed. This latest feed was 2 days late as I was waiting for her to shed (and she did, I was so excited when I found it in her viv this morning! So proud! My first shed with her :D)

She hasn't gained any weight between these 2 feeds, which I'm guessing is too soon to see a change, but I'd just like to know at what rate they gain weight on average. Been feeding her one pinky.

Another reason behind me asking is that after her feed just now she was out searching in her viv straight away. I know not to feed on demand but she's never done that before, lol.

As a rule of thumb, a snake gains about 30% of what the prey weighs. So if you are feeding 1-2g pinks, you can expect about a .3-.6 gram weight gain with each feeding. IF you have a scale that weighs that accurately. Also, snakes tend to love a little bit of weight after shedding. Once your baby gets on XL pinks/peach fuzzies, you will see a noticeable weight gain with each feeding, again, provided you have a scale that weighs in tenths of grams, and once the baby is on hoppers he will really take off.
