How long does it take to digest?

Its been about 48 hours since Dominoe ate and he is still in the same position all coiled up on the warm side, and he is still FAT in the middle of his body from the pinky. Is this normal, or should the lump be gone down by now?

Hmmm...if I remember correctly, the lump should be gone about 48 hours after eating. Of course, he may be fine, but you could either try bumping him down a size in terms of prey item, or try making a few small snips in the skin on the back of the pink (if you switch back to frozen/thawed). The snipping makes it easier for the snakes to digest, and very often the lump is no longer visible in my snakes less than 24 hours after eating. Also, make sure the warm side is warm enough. Temperature can also have an effect on digestion time.:)

Everything is fine. Don't change a thing.

First off, every animal is different. Digestion in 48 hours is an observation, NOT A RULE! Don't go trying to fix a problem that doesn't yet exist. Unless your snake regurges, the meal size is appropriate. As far as your temps, 80-85 is perfect.

I suggest walking away from the snake, enjoy the day, and leave him be for a couple of days. You're going to give yourself an ulcer if you worry like this about every little detail. The snake is fine, you're OK, now enjoy the animal.

Energ...

What Cav said (smile).

One of the harder lessons with corns is...they're pretty much "Fire and Forget" ! Well not that actually, but they're not like furry pets. You feed them, monitor them from time to time, change water and clean up waste.

Like many snakes they spend a lot of time hiding..they really don't want you watching them all the time. It's a bonus when they are comfortable and then come out on the prowl (grin).

I've only been keeping corns two years...that's why I'm mentioning the above. They're not really "display" pets, in the classic sense. You learn over time if you care for them well, handle them occasionally you and they do great. You want to avoid hovering over them and trying to do "too much" with them. It's good you're concerned...but don't sweat the small stuff.

I don't mean any of this in a negative sense, I hope you understand that. Just a few things you learn and realize over time :)

Yeah, the lump has gone down a little since day 1 so Im not worried. Looks like a slowly but surely thing. We are still getting to know eachother thats all. Soon I will know more about him and his shed routine, feed routine, and normal activity. until then I wont worry.
