How long have every body been keeping corns

I bought my first corn Jan 1993, but I didn't get into corns seriously until about 3 yrs ago. I have kept various other snake for almost 30 yrs. I started with a garter snake that I found in my back yard when I was 9 yrs old.

Since 1995 when my husband brought home a wild caught hatchling. We had veiled chameleons at the time and he thought it would make a nice addition. Little did he know that I would end up with over 75 corn snakes, and I plan on having many more!

Hi Everybuddy,
What an interesting thread.

I have been owned by a cornsnake for 146 days, that equals 20 meals, 5 sheds, and 73 gray hairs. But I wouldn't trade him for anything!

I have own lizards since mid 2000 I got my first snake in early breeding season of 2001, She was a WC corn from West Palm Beach, FL and I still have her to this day I also now own 9 lizards, 15 snakes, And I also take care of 5 non-feeders for a friend (which are now eating :D ).

I have owned various snakes and lizards for over 14 years, but I have been serious about corns for the last 4. Currently have 37 corns, 1 ball python, 1 albino pac-man frog (horned toad), and a mexican red legged tarantula. I bred my first corn 3 years ago, and have seriously been overtaken by the breeding bug last year and this year. Have four females I grew up from hatchlings that I hope now have buns in the oven!

I have been keeping cornsnakes for two days now, one snake at least. I bought it yestarday with a tank and heat mat and all the other gubbins. I had it out today and it was quite calm. its 2ft long and a bargain. lol

I've been keeping reptiles of various types for about 20 years now. Corns have come and gone with the various incarnations of my collection. Now that things in my life have finally stabilized, I've been working on the final, permenant incarnation.

Right now, I'm working with 32 corns of various morphs, het amel great plains rats, leucistic Texas rats, African house snakes, Peruvian longtailed boa constrictors, reverse stripe and het albino common boa constrictors, blackhead pythons, Cape York and granite spotted pythons, and het piebald ball pythons. Other snakes I've added, but aren't yet in my possession include womas and African mole snakes.

I actually purchased my first cornsnake from a local pet shop. Well it was my first snake of any kind. I paid $17 back then and it was a normal. The year...1982 and I was 14 years old.

Since then I have owned Rat snakes, racers, various kingsnakes, ball pythons, burmese pythons, Colombian boas, peruvian redtail boas. guyana redtail boas etc.

I have gone full circle and only own corns right now.

I've been keeping corns for over ten years (other snakes for over 20 years), but I have been a herper since I could walk and catch em'. When I was a kid my Mom hated to do my laundry because she would never know what she would find in my pockets.

You sound like me DAND. I think I brought home about a million Alligator lizards, salamanders, frogs, and who knows what else. Fortunately, my mom and dad had no problem with all of it, and mom even had to help get a few lizards off of the curtains when they escaped. Thank God for cool parents!

4 months. My little brother got me into it and the genetics hooked me right from the beginning. I just bought my 2nd one yesterday, a gorgous lil female amel who i believe coulda easily been marketed as a reverse ok. due to her borders and color.

It's sad to say but i was actually one of those "it's a snake, let's kill it" people for a long time. But after a lot of reading (i love reading anything along the lines of zoology esp herp), and interactions with my brother's snakes (he's caught them all his life, but has kept as a hobby for 3 years), i learned how ignorant i was when it came to these wonderful creatures.

i bought mine on the 12th march 2003. so, ive been keeping him for ... 14 months and 8 days. ive had no problems with him, hes great, and will be getting a mate . . .

Right now, i only have one that I've been keeping since she hatched. Four months so far, moving onto five. I'm getting a bloodred next month, can't wait!
