How long until your female lays eggs?

Arpolis

Corn Snake Breeder
Just a currious question for everyone out there. I have a female that I introduced to a male and had some confirmed copulation on 09/23. She is already burrowing into her aspen and rufused a meal tonight while looking very puffy. This is less than a month after copulation & I think it is pretty early to b behaving as such. How long has it taken all of you befor your girls are refusing meals and nesting?

Time to introduce a laying box. 30-45 days is "what they say" I tend to average 40. Watch for the pre-lay shed, I usually get eggs a week and a half to two weeks after that. But not always. I've had them lay blue, so even that's not anything to set your calendar by. Best just keep a laying box in from the first refusal until you have eggs. Best of luck!

In my past breeding it was over a month, about 40 days now that I think about it when there was the first refused meal. Also noticed the pre lay shed about a week or two befor laying. I'll put a lay box in now and just see how it goes. Here is fingers crossed for a big clutch to give me better odds at a hypo plasma male.

Six weeks from successful breeding to egglaying. The female will have a pre-egglaying shed about ten days before laying eggs - which could explain why she's not eating.

These are this years numbers for the clutches I had:

27,00
25,00
79,00 (2nd clutch)
38,00
27,00

Calculated from the FIRST hook up, those were followed by at least another one or a few days of sleeping over at the females home.
