How NOT to house your snake

Probably doesn't appear to be my most mature move, but hopefully my email was taken to heart. I sent the owner my real name, email and phone number if he had any questions or if I could help him. I never suggested anyone be mean or ugly, just thought multiple people pointing out that his animals weren't being properly cared for might make a difference. I had no idea this would be controversial, and certainly didn't mention cs.com in my correspondence. And "barrage" was a poor choice of words on my part. Mea culpa.

Hey, Chip

I do not see were you did anything wrong. If you line up a 100 adult people on a roof top and tell them to jump. The adults who jump deserve what they get. My parents always told me to be a thinker follower or leader because in this day you can not always be a leader sometimes you have to be a follower but you need to be out thinking the leader. That is just my 2 cents.

Love the Fatman

I certainly wish I had seen this before it all blew up. I live in southern Utah and either myself, or the local reptile rescue (I am working on becoming a partner with them) could have stepped in to help these snakes. I know I am new here, however if anyone happens to see something like this in the same area again, please contact me to see if we have room to help. I try to keep an eye on KSL and craigslist but I am busy and miss things like this one often.

To set the record straight, Zusco was NOT the originator of the e-mail bombarding idea.

If I didn't know better, I would swear that several men on this forum were suddenly seriously "PMSing".

specifically TandJ, the panty man!

I think you done good thar

I have been watching this thread. I agree with so many aspects of it. First of all I do agree with Tim in the fact that the information should not have been posted. Obviously, we are all animal lovers otherwise we wouldn't be here and a lot of people get heated up when we see something like this. However, at the same time I also understand that the info was asked for so you gave it.

As a new member I have to say I thought I liked this forum when I was a guest, but I can honestly say I am not thrilled about it now. Yes the "seasoned" get attacked but I have seen the newbies get attacked a lot. Most of these newbies don't know anything which is why they come to you. I have been a snake owner for many years and even little questions I would be afraid to post cause of what I have seen in threads from people who are new to snakes.

I am not looking for a fight. I am just saying that if you sit back and look at this from a different point of view many of you are right. But on the same aspect everyone seems concerned about ruining the good reputation of this site but coming from someone who mostly just reads the threads to avoid something like this (cause I have been caught in the middle of one before)I think we all joined this site for the love of corns not because we like to have debates.

Hang in there! We have our bad moments, but overall this site is a great place to come and ask your questions. Most of us usually have our hearts in the right place if we're telling someone off.

Well, I'm a relative n00bie to snakes and a member here for just under a year. I hope you don't feel like newbies always get attacked because it sure didn't happen to me. I think it happens when others perceive n00bs as being arrogant know-it-alls when they really don't know anything, or very little. And I haven't seen asking questions get noobies clobbered except for the "can I put 2 snakes in 1 viv?" question which elicits moans, groans, thrown shoes, and rotten tomatoes. Obviously, you are not new to snakes and wouldn't ask that question, so I don't think you'd get that response on just about any question. I know I've asked some dumb ones and people have been patient with me, including people who are young enough to be my kids but know a bucket load more than I because they have owned snakes for 10 years and I have had snakes for 1 year. So give us a chance, OK?

Betsy, I have to spread some rep around before giving it to you again.

It's the attitude of people like you who make me feel comfortable posting here. I've never felt attacked or belittled as a new member. I think the issue is when a stranger comes onto the scene and causes controversy that happens to provoke a more senior member and the ensuing debate gets too personal. That is where attacking and belittling happen.

Returning to the original topic -- does anyone know what is going on with these snakes? Have they been re-homed?

I hope that someone can rescue these two and give them proper care and love that they deserve. I've been into corns for almost four years now and am waiting on another snake (Baby San Gabriel Rosy Boa) to arrive on Wednesday. Everything I've always read or had been told was that you should keep your snakes seperate unless they're in the process of breeding. Maybe these little guys will be adopted by someone who really cares and has a true love of snakes.

We all come to this website because we love snakes (especially corns) and there is a wealth of information that we can all share with each other, whether it's someone who has been into this all of their life, or are brand spanking new newbies.

I would rather help someone than blast them.. Ask away with questions, as newbie, I am more than willing to help you.. It was Elrojo who IMHO, said e mail bombing off the top iof his head and I believe it was half heartedly too, so no, The Red is not to blame.. A week later, I feel the same way about the OP as I did when I originally blasted them.. Regardless of what people think, its my opinion that providing an e mail address to spam bomb some nitwit is still beyond uncalled for.. So be it, if you really want to support that, its on you...

There are quite a few of you that have met me face to face, and most of them definantly have a greater sense of me in reality than your going to have of me posting behind some screen..

Betsy, you are a wonderful addition to this site.. I wish more "noobies" would follow suit to you..

In my introduction to this group I said that I was reluctant to post because new people often get blasted. I hope some of you will understand.
