How Often Do You Take Your Snake Out of Its Viv?

Well, Noah is my "fella" and Choco is my girlfriend. That sums up my romantic life! I just basically love having my snakes out, though. And I love photographing them out at the water garden, which is done for the winter...

Well, if I had a water garden in Florida, I'd be spending more time at home too :D

I take mine out every day unless they've recently eaten. I do have one male who does not like to be bothered while he's in shed, but the rest of them seem to enjoy handling. They use my fingers to lose their skin. :)

In all honesty, snakes are not generally sociable animals. If you don't handle them, they won't give a hoot. If that's your snake in your picture, he's small enough that he can excersize plenty inside of his enclosure. Perhaps he's enjoying the peace and privacy. Most snakes do! ;)

Don't feel bad about it. Perhaps you could make a bracelette out of him while you're studying. He might enjoy the constant body heat.

Sounds weird, but I let mine decide. About every other day I lay my hand in there. If he wants to come out, he'll crawl up my arm. Other days, he'll ignore me or go the other way. Except feeding day. He gets taken out even if he doesn't want to. :dancer:

Jhammer, that is the most awesome thing ever!

NOTHING compares to letting your snake decide if/when he wants to come out. It also means less digging in the substrate and rustling up the hides. ;)

I only take mine out when it's time to change out the aspen. I have rambunctious cats, so I can't really just sit around with a snake on my lap. :D

3-4 times a week I take my yearling out.
The hatchling tries to bite me so I leave it alone for now.
I bring out the yearling for about 10 minutes. The other 3-4 days I leave it alone so it can digest its food.
They hide a lot after eating and I leave them alone on those first few days after eating. When they start coming out and roaming the cage I bring the one out.

I take my 4 month out everyday...some days only about 10-20 minutes, other days a little bit longer...we watch House together sometimes :) He tried to slither away when I would reach for him in his vivarium, but is not aggressive at all and when I am handling him, he's extremely calm and loves to slowly explore. Today, he actually didn't try to slither away at all. I think he's becoming more comfortable with me each time I handle him.
